Print Issues with Reporting Services

I developed and deployed a report using VS.net. Reporting Services gives you the option on the web page to print the report or export to another format. When choosing to print, I am unable to get the report to print in landscape mode on standard letter paper. What is the relationship between the margin properties (which seem to have no impact) on the report? the body of the report? and the printer?
The report size doesnt seem to matter (10 x 7.5 inches) tried changing margins here also
The body size doesnt seem to matter (9.75 x 7 inches) and here

Does the issue lie with
a) the printer properties
b) Reporting services
c) IE
Im stumped!!Sad

Hopefully, you are using the Sep. CTP or later, since there was a known issue earlier with landscape printing. After the report server was upgraded, I still had to manually delete the old RSClientPrint Class file on my PC, which was cached under the "Downloaded Program Fles" folder (RTM version is: 2005,90,1399,0).

print function?

One of our user requirement is to include "Print" option to the Reporting
Manager toolbar (either inlcude in the Export to .. list or a separate
option to send the report to the printer).
Is this possible.? If possible, how? if not, what are the alternatives?
ThanksClient side printing is expected to be included in a future release. In the
current release, you can print reports from a custom app. Please see
http://www.csharphelp.com/archives3/archive545.html for a code sample.

print blank page

i export my report to pdf and its leaving one blank page with every alternative page

is there any setting?

thanks

Make sure your layout, pagesize and margins all agree. Also, search this forum. This topic has been addressed several times in the past.|||Look at the report body width. If, for example, you set your margins to .5" on a portrait report, in this situation your body may be 7.500001". I have found this from time to time. The amount is so slight that looking at it won't do you any good. Click on the body and look at the width, then try to find the object that is causing the width to exceed your margins. I would first check your table width.|||

I'm using landscape and in my body property

width=11in

height = 4.125in

what does it mean, i have to reduce the width or height?

thanks a lot

i fixed myself

i have to reduce the width size

The trick to landscape vs portrait reports is by default portrait is set to 8.5 x 11 in the report properties. All you have to do is flip these two values around.

print / export SSRS report from t-sql

Greetings,

I have a report that I would like to execute (export to PDF) from t-sql. I can view it interactively from the SSRS website; I can view it from my asp.net application; I can also create the PDF programmatically from the asp.net front-end, but I need to run a batch type query from a stored proc with a report(PDF) as the output...

For example, I want to create and send out a PDF based on a trigger....

How do I do this from t-sql?

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Dan

Web Service calls are only hard to implement in TSQL, close to say that this is not possible. Would could be done is to write an application and execute this application on a trigger base with passing the needed parameters to it..BUT..Keep in mind that triggers behave synchronously, which means that the execution and the lock will be hold until the processing of the trigger is finished. So you have to be careful if you really want to do this on a trigger base rather than starting a job e.g. every minute.

Thanks Jens -- I think I'll just fall back to using the front end application to initiate it. Maybe MS will help out in the future....

Thanks again.

Primary keys lost after DTS

after performing export/dts from our database server to our hosting server,
the primary keys of each table in the destination server are lost. using the
dts wizard, i use the third option (copy database objects and data) and i di
d
make sure that the copy primary and foreign keys option is on. Can anyone
tell me how to solve the problem?
BTW, i did experience an error during the DTS process. "SetUser permission
denied." but still all database objects were transfered including the
contents except the primary keys. Does it had something to do with the
database account im using to connect to the server, which i think is limited
?In my own view is most clear generate scripts for each kind object (tables,
sp) and then PASTE into QA window and run them.
-Create the intended scripts and create the tables
-Transfer all the data(it's causing errors because of the table dependencies
but no problem at all, retry again all those ended in error)

Preview report drastically different than export or deployed

I have been noticing this for a while now and wanted to see if I could bring it to Microsoft's attention. On a lot of my reports, the preview looks one way, then when the report is deployed and run or exported, it looks different. And not just a few aesthetics, but lines, columns, colors, etc. I have spent numerous hours trying to fix a problem in the preview that never existed in the export or deployed version.

Does anyone have this issue? Is Microsoft aware of this issue?

What format are you trying to export to?

The "preview" in Visual Studio uses a different output format than the HTML displayed in the web control, so you may see some differences there.

Different renderers have different characteristics regarding pagination and capabilities; some differences are expected. If you supply some more details about exactly what problems your experiencing we may be able to give you some specific guidance.
