Just installed SP2 and started experimenting with the print functionality.
The size of the print jobs are huge. I had a fairly simple six page report
with a spooling size of over 100 mb, a single page over 17mb. Is there
anything that can be done to reduce this size . If not, we will not be able
to use the functionality as the network just will bog down - it is back to
printing out pdf files - which the users do not like.
Any hope of getting around this? This is the current behavior and there is no workaround. We are looking at
what we can do to make this better for the Yukon Release.

Preview error
Hi,
I'm trying to use Reporting Services, I have installed the client component on my computer (Win 2K pro sp4) and I try to start to design a new report. The data source is a SQL Server developer edition Sp3 installed on the same computer.
All works fine until I try to preview the report using the preview tab from the designer. I received this message "command 'view.output' not available.
My Visual Studio version is EA enghlish version. I have installed the RS SP1 with the same results.
Anyone can help me ?
Thank's in advance and I apologize for my poor englishDo you have any add-ins installed? Can you select View\Other Windows\Output
from the View menu? What happens if you open the VS Command Window, and type
"View.Output" ?

Yes I can select View\Other Windows\Output from the View menu.
If I open the VS Command Windows and type View.Output is not recognized as command.

Preventing customers from hacking my MSDE database?
Recently I installed a commercial client-only product utilizing an
MSDE database.
The product installed its own instance of MSDE rather than adding a
database to the default instance (or install a default instance).
Of course, not with a blank sa password, so I could not access it
just by firing up Enterprise Manager or Query Analyzer.
Still, I was curious about the structure of the database, so
all I had to do to gain access to the table structure and data was to
stop the service for the MSDE instance, locate the database and log
files, copy them to another location, and attach them to the default
instance. I now had access to the table structure and all the data.
Still, the triggers and stored procedures were stored with encryption,
but this was no problem for a tool like Orbital's SQL Decryptor or a
couple of other scripts freely available on the Internet.
Question is: Is there anything the author could have done to prevent
me from doing any of the above? Or to put it another way: Is there
anything I can do to prevent others from accessing data in my own
programs in unauthorized ways?
TIA,
JBHave you tried to remove the user from System Admin server role and give
them an appropriate permissions?

have the ability to access your files and or the db directly. Your best
recourse is to have very good copywrite, NDA's etc. in place.
